Fellow blogger and Pinterest extraordinaire, Michelle has continued to inspire me with her Pin-perfect pins. As a result, I decided to share one of my own!
My grandma used to make homemade jams and preservatives and stored the delicacies in old fashion Ball’s Mason jars. I have kept a few since then and used them to stash loose change or cotton balls. However, in the DIY phenomenon that we live in, I knew I could find a more stylish way to reuse these jars. So, this past summer I took to Pinterest for some ideas.
“Fourth of July Star Jars”
A great summer project indeed, this pin shows you how to transform mason jars into stylish luminaries.
Simply take an old fashion mason jar and scatter star stickers all around it. I used a variety of different sizes. Next, spray the jar with a thick coat of paint. Make sure the coat is even and there are no drips. Wait a couple of hours before peeling off the stickers.
Now for the fun part. The tutorial used battery operated votive candles to ignite the luminary. Well, I’m in for the real deal. I took an actual votive, placed it at the bottom of the jar, and… lit it up!
A true pin-worthy upcycling project. These luminaries serve as a great alternative to candles and will spice up your indoor or outdoor ambiance in no time!
